I’ll Try To Understand You
Black American here
Wondering why you don’t “get me”
Got this weight on me that you refuse to see
You say I throw the race card
I can’t knock on doors like you without wondering
what fear it will bring
when you walk out of your place you can forget about your face
cause they see a human being
It’s supposed to be a free country
But it’s hard to be carefree
We’re just moments away from police profiling
or a Karen story
The Same people who stormed the capitol
Said Kaepernick’s kneeling was shameful
Even though he was peaceful
January 6th was a violent insurrection
Stooping to a reverse our highest election
They turned their backs on democracy
Kaepernick made that sacrifice
to call attention to hypocrisy
Tell me why you’re feeling like you’re feeling
Bad things happening will keep happening
If we do nothing, Still a lot work to a do
Even more if you deny how much we have to
We Don’t have to fight; Just need to look for daylight
