IT’S 2024. Americans know the significance of November every 4 years, but they don’t seem to grasp the significance of THIS ONE. Everybody has their $0.02 to offer; many Americans seem to think that THEIR priorities are the MOST important. So, they gravitate towards candidates who advocate for those issues. Does that behavior consider the impact on the WHOLE?
Examples of hot-button issues are (1) ABORTION and (2) ISRAEL. I keep hearing people clamor about how they’re abandoning the top 2 guys because of these reasons and embracing some much less popular person like an Independent or a Libertarian. I guess a person doing this deserves credit for being true to themselves. HOWEVER, how likely will your obscure person win? IS IT NOT more likely that this support for an unpopular candidate will likely assist the victory of the top guy who disgusts you more by weakening support for the one who disgusted you less?
Nobody likes pontificators; so, I’ll only talk about myself. I personally look at ALL THE ISSUES and the climate each candidate creates. One candidate is pro-life, but all his other policies seem like pro-eff-you. One is pro-democracy while supporting someone who openly denies many in his population access to power. I disagree with both of these guys; however, only one of them seems to threaten that one thing that makes America America. Seems to me that we as a people must save THE ENTIRE BOAT we’re in and NOT JUST these issues important to each of us individually. That’s why I’m supporting the one person who seems capable of BOTH winning AND saving our ship even though this person can’t seem to break out of bad old habits. Isn’t this the kind of thing we should spend our $0.02 on? That’s what I’m attempting at this very moment. Every time we discuss politics, WE ALL have an opportunity to shift attention to the whole INSTEAD OF dominating that discussion with OUR INDIVIDUAL PRIORITIES. Whatchu think?
